On Saturday, January 10, the Sierra Madre community will come together to honor the bravery, resilience, and unwavering collaboration displayed during the Eaton Fire at a special commemoration event hosted by the newly re-established Sierra Madre Fire Safe Council. The event will take place from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the Sierra Madre Fire Department.

This gathering will bring together neighbors, first responders, and community members to reflect on the heroic efforts that protected lives and property during the devastating fire. It will also serve as an opportunity to express gratitude for the resilience shown by residents and emergency personnel alike.

Special guests will speak, sharing their experiences from the fire, and light refreshments, including coffee and treats, will be provided. The event promises to be a meaningful morning of connection, reflection, and appreciation for all who supported the community during this time of crisis.

“We want to celebrate the strength of our community,” said Mayor Kris Lowe. “This gathering is an opportunity for us to remember those who worked tirelessly during the Eaton Fire, as well as to express our deep gratitude to our neighbors and heroes who stood together when it mattered most.”

In a video message to the community, Fire Chief Brent Bartlett reflected on the fire and its lasting impact: “The 2025 Eaton Fire was a challenging and humbling time for Sierra Madre. What stood out most for me was the uncertainty, wondering what our beautiful town would look like when the smoke cleared. But with the support of our brothers and sisters in the fire service, both locally and from across the region, we worked tirelessly to protect our town. The professionalism, sacrifice, and teamwork of everyone involved truly made a difference.

The Eaton Fire Commemoration is open to all members of the Sierra Madre community, with a particular focus on those who played a pivotal role in the fire’s aftermath.

When neighbors and heroes stand together, Sierra Madre grows stronger. Join as the community reflects on the past and continues to build a future where resilience and support remain at the heart of Sierra Madre.

All are welcome to attend and participate in this special moment of unity.
