Santa Claus is coming to town, and this year, he’s riding in style on a festive fire-truck sleigh through the streets of San Gabriel.
By Melanie Hooks
From December 20 to 23, residents can catch a glimpse of Mr. Claus as he visits four areas of the city, spreading holiday cheer along the way.
Each evening, Santa will depart from Fire Station 51 (1303 S. Del Mar Avenue) at 5:30 pm before making his way through a different neighborhood:
- Saturday, December 20
Southwest (South of the railroad tracks, west of Del Mar Ave., north of the I-10 Freeway, and east of New Avenue). - Sunday, December 21
Southeast (South of the railroad tracks, east of Del Mar Ave., north of the I-10 Freeway, and west of Rubio Wash & Charlotte Ave. – Rosemead border). - Monday, December 22
Northwest (North of the railroad tracks, west of Del Mar Ave., south of the San Marino city limit, and east of the Alhambra city limit – Alhambra Wash). - Tuesday, December 23
Northeast (North of the railroad tracks, east of Del Mar Ave., west of unincorporated Los Angeles County, and south of the San Marino city limit).
Safety
Here are a few safety measures you’re encouraged to follow as Santa rides through the neighborhoods:
- Santa encourages everyone to gather with their own household.
- Be sure to stay within your house and front yard.
- Do not run into the streets.
Note that Santa’s sleigh travels through the incorporated borders of the City of San Gabriel. For ease of travel, Santa’s sleigh may travel through an unincorporated section of San Gabriel County in order to return to his route. Santa’s visits may be canceled if weather conditions impede his travel.
