Rodolfo F. Ruiz, a managing partner at the Pasadena law office of Vanderfort and Ruiz LLP, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Pasadena’s Playhouse Village Foundation.

Ruiz is an experienced trial attorney whose specialties include employment, public entity defense, construction defect, rail, personal injury, real property, and general litigation. Before founding Vanderford & Ruiz, Mr. Ruiz served as Deputy Public Defender for the County of Los Angeles. A former Trustee of the Mexican American Bar Association, Mr. Ruiz was also a Transportation Commissioner for the City of Los Angeles under Mayor Richard Riordan. He received his law degree from Stanford University, where he was Associate Editor of the Stanford Law Review. He graduated with honors from Harvard College with a B.A. degree in Government.
“Rudy will be a valuable asset to Playhouse Village because he brings relevant expertise and spends time in Playhouse Village every day. He is taking his commitment to our community to a new level,” announced Playhouse Village Foundation Chair Phil Hawkey. The Foundation raises funds to underwrite free public programs and enhancements for Playhouse Village, including jazz, movies, games, holiday and exercise programs in Playhouse Village Park, as well as streetscapes and public art.
“I not only work in Playhouse Village, I am also a property owner here. So I see both the potential and the needs of Playhouse Village. I am especially excited that the Mentor Avenue corridor is now coming into its own. I look forward to this challenge,” noted Ruiz.
Rudy Ruiz also volunteers for MiMentor/Alliance in Mentorship, an organization devoted to increasing the ranks of diverse doctors and medical professionals nationwide to better provide medical care to underserved communities.
