Doulos began his ministry among the poor and homeless in 1974, as executive director of Union Station, a Pasadena storefront hospitality center for the poor and homeless founded by clergy and volunteers from All Saints Church. He served there for 17 years, until 1991. He later was director of Housing Ministry at Church of Our Saviour, San Gabriel, and its Jubilee Transitional Housing sober-living homes for people in recovery from addiction. In 2002 he donated his financial interest in four sober living homes to the Church of Our Saviour in San Gabriel. These homes now form the core of the ministry of Jubilee Homes, which provides housing and relevant social services in Pasadena and Altadena to 50 men and women in recovery from addiction. Ordained a vocational deacon by the Diocese of Los Angeles in 2014, Doulos is the author of “The Radical Disciple,” “The Cotton Patch Parables of Liberation,” “Hearts of Fire,” “Journey to the Fourth Dimension,” and “A Journey of Compassion: Letters from a Street Minister.” Doulos retired after 50 years of service to the church and poor in July 2023, when he turned 80 years old. He then volunteered to manage one of the Jubilee Homes, the Raymond House in Pasadena.
