Rain and mountain snow, Flash Flooding Warning, are expected to impact the area, with a stronger weather system moving in Wednesday through Thursday.

      By News Desk

The incoming storm is expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall, significant mountain snow, gusty winds, and the possibility of thunderstorms. A flood watch is in effect, along with a winter storm watch for the mountains.

      Preparation Information

To help residents prepare, sandbags will be available for distribution in Sierra Madre, Pasadena and Altadena.

      – Sierra Madre:

Sandbags will be distributed at Sierra Vista Park, located near the Rose Float Barn. Residents may receive up to 25 sandbags per household, with proof of residency required. Residents are asked to bring their own shovel to fill sandbags. Contractors will not be permitted, and residents are asked to avoid entering the City Yards.

      – Pasadena:

In Pasadena, free pre-filled sandbags, along with self-serve sand and sandbags, will be available at the following locations while supplies last:

      • Robinson Park (south parking lot)
        1081 N. Fair Oaks, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
      • Victory Park (parking lot along Altadena Dr.)
        2575 Paloma St., 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

The following fire stations will have self-serve sand and sandbags only.

      • Fire Station 37, 3430 E. Foothill Blvd., 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
      • Fire Station 38, 1150 Linda Vista Ave., 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Note that sandbag supplies are limited, and availability is on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents are encouraged to prepare ahead of time.

      – Altadena:

Altadena residents can check the following fire stations for sandbags:

      • Fire Station #11
        2521 El Molino Ave.
        Phone: (626) 797-0379
      • Fire Station #12
        2760 N. Lincoln Ave.
        Phone: (626) 797-1911

Proof of residency is required. Residents may want to call the fire station or location listed for sandbag availability. Due to demand, sandbags may be temporarily out of stock.
