Deborah P Kolodji
beach primrose
blooming out of season
on your 93rd birthday
a smile so bright
you seemed young again
Deborah P Kolodji writes from Temple City, CA and leads the Pasadena based So Ca Haiku Study group. She says “My mother came to California in the 1940’s on a troop train with her sister, Omolene, who celebrated her 93rd birthday in early December. The rain outside
in my ears still so soft
the sound of your voiceFar and away
my fugitive winged thoughts claim
a piece of your skyBright dancing flames
suddenly out of nowhere
the warmth of your kiss

Paul Smith
among the dishes
I search
really hard
for the dream
we once shared
