      Deborah P Kolodji

      beach primrose
      blooming out of season
      on your 93rd birthday
      a smile so bright
      you seemed young again

Deborah P Kolodji writes from Temple City, CA and leads the Pasadena based So Ca Haiku Study group. She says “My mother came to California in the 1940’s on a troop train with her sister, Omolene, who celebrated her 93rd birthday in early December. I am proud to be related to these two adventurous women!”.

      Yiota Karioti

      The rain outside
in my ears still so soft
      the sound of your voice

      Far and away
      my fugitive winged thoughts claim
      a piece of your sky

      Bright dancing flames
      suddenly out of nowhere
      the warmth of your kiss

Yiota Karioti, a poet, photographer, musician and history and literature professor in Athens, Greece, believes that “Time and memory are true artists; they remould reality nearer to the heart’s desire.”(John Dewey). She draws her inspiration from the deep inner world of emotions and powerful memories. Follow her on twitter @yiota143.

      Paul Smith

      among the dishes
      I search
      really hard
      for the dream
      we once shared

Paul Smith lives in Worcester, England. He values the quiet time that washing dishes allows to ponder the happenings of the day.
