so wild in the yard
yet she cannot move

and this sighing

Patty Hardin
alive with promise
the butterfly crosses my path
tempts me
away from the darkness
of disappointments

Mary Kendall
closing my eyes
and shutting out the world
dreaming
of things
that might have been
Mary Kendall lives in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She says “I meditate daily so I can try to be fully in the present moment. I’ve found that the best way to deal with worries about ‘what might have been’ is to corral them into a poem”.
