As the lead agency for the project, Pasadena’s Department of Public Works invites residents to learn more about the environmental review process and share their input on the proposed plan. The meeting will include a presentation outlining the project’s scope, its environmental impact, and the next steps for implementation.
The Eaton Wash Stormwater Capture Project is designed to enhance water quality in the surrounding region, particularly in the Eaton Wash, Rio Hondo, and Los Angeles Rivers. The project site, a vacant, city-owned parcel adjacent to Eaton Blanche Park, will feature underground stormwater infiltration and treatment systems, as well as above-ground improvements that will benefit the surrounding community. Proposed amenities include bioswales, shaded gathering areas, walking paths, outdoor classrooms, demonstration and community gardens, and a dog park. The project will also feature interpretive signage to educate visitors about the site’s history.
In addition to environmental improvements, the project will create a multi-benefit passive park that fosters both ecological sustainability and community engagement. Community members attending the meeting will have the opportunity to ask questions, engage with City staff and the project team, and learn about the California Environmental Quality Act’s (CEQA) Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration (IS/MND) process.
Pasadena’s Department of Public Works has been working closely with local residents and stakeholders to shape the project, incorporating ongoing community input and feedback.
Residents are encouraged to attend and provide feedback on the environmental document’s scope, ensuring the project meets both environmental standards and the needs of the community.
