Pasadena residents are encouraged to clear out their old electronics and sensitive documents as the Pasadena Public Works Department hosts a free e-waste recycling and paper shredding event on Saturday, Nov. 1.
By News Desk
The event will run from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm in Parking Lot I outside the Rose Bowl Stadium, located at 360 N. Arroyo Blvd., near Brookside Park.
To ensure smooth processing, the line for drop-off will close at 2:00 pm. The event’s duration will also depend on truck capacity, so participants are urged to arrive early.
E-Waste Disposal and Recycling
The event offers a safe and convenient way for Pasadena residents to dispose of old electronics, which should never be thrown in the trash or regular recycling bins due to their harmful environmental impact. Accepted e-waste items include computers, monitors, laptops, keyboards, printers, fax machines, televisions, stereos, VCRs, and more. Household batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, and LED bulbs will also be collected.
Free Paper Shredding to Prevent Identity Theft
In addition to e-waste recycling, Public Works will provide free paper shredding services to help residents protect themselves from identity theft. The shredding service is available to all attendees, with a limit of three legal-sized boxes of documents per person. Items that can be shredded include outdated tax returns, receipts, credit card statements, pre-approved credit applications, and sensitive personal paperwork such as checks and business cards. Participants are asked to remove documents from binders and clips prior to shredding.
