Hosted by the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department in collaboration with the Pasadena Veterans Committee, this year’s ceremony will shine a special spotlight on the 2D Battalion 23D Marine Corps Regiment, recently returned from overseas deployment. Adopted by the City in 2013, the battalion will be recognized in a poignant Yellow Ribbon Ceremony, featuring a performance by the Pasadena Scottish Pipes and Drums.
The 2025 event carries additional historical weight as it also commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States Army, Navy, and Marine Corps—a significant milestone in the nation’s military legacy.
The program will be led by Former Mayor William Paparian, who brings both civic and military experience to his role as Master of Ceremonies. Paparian currently serves as a Captain (CA) Judge Advocate in the California State Guard and is a Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney.
Delivering the keynote address will be Associate Justice Eileen Moore, a Vietnam War veteran who served as a combat nurse in the Army Nurse Corps. Justice Moore is a recipient of numerous military honors, including the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm.
A highlight of the morning will be a flyover by the Condor Squadron at 11:11 a.m., offering a stirring tribute to the nation’s veterans.
In addition to the formal ceremonies, the event will feature free hot dogs, interactive exhibits, and family-friendly activities, welcoming guests of all ages to participate in the day’s reflections and celebrations.
The City of Pasadena extends its gratitude to supporting organizations, including The Rose Bowl Stadium, Pasadena Management Association, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Pasadena encourages all residents and visitors to join in honoring those who have served with bravery and dedication.
