Pasadena Humane Marks Eaton Fire Anniversary, Launches Dog Days of Winter Adoption Event

In the days following the one-year anniversary of the devastating Eaton Fire, Pasadena Humane is not only reflecting on the incredible community support it received during the crisis but also offering a chance for animal lovers to find their perfect canine companion. The shelter is marking this moment of gratitude with a heartwarming initiative: Dog Days of Winter, a special adoption promotion running from January 16 to January 25, 2026.

      By News Desk

This promotion, sponsored by the Foundation for Canine Welfare, offers adoption fees for dogs 6 months and older at just $26, a perfect opportunity for families to welcome a new furry friend into their homes. Whether you’ve been inspired by the spirit of community or simply looking to add a little joy to your winter, Dog Days of Winter invites you to adopt a dog at an affordable rate.

The timing of this event is particularly meaningful, as Pasadena Humane recently commemorated the one-year anniversary of the Eaton Fire, which ignited on January 7, 2025. When the fire forced thousands of people to evacuate their homes, Pasadena Humane stepped up, offering refuge to both pets and their families. To ensure space for displaced animals, shelters across California, including San Diego Humane Society, played a crucial role, housing Pasadena Humane’s adoptable animals during the crisis. San Diego Humane, in particular, took in more than 50 animals from Pasadena Humane, helping the shelter maintain its lifesaving operations during one of the most challenging times in its history.

To honor that partnership, Pasadena Humane is returning the favor by welcoming 10 dogs from San Diego Humane Society as part of an effort to help create kennel space for SDHS amid an ongoing hoarding investigation. This thoughtful collaboration comes just days after the anniversary of the fire, reflecting the deep bonds of support and the resilience of the animal welfare community.

“We’re so grateful for the support we received from San Diego Humane Society during the Eaton Fire, and being able to help them now, on the anniversary of that crisis, feels incredibly meaningful,” said Marissa Sunny, Senior Director of Placement at Pasadena Humane. “It’s a reminder of the power of collaboration in times of need, and what better way to commemorate that than by offering a great opportunity for our community to adopt a dog and bring even more love into their homes this winter?”

Dog Days of Winter is a celebration of companionship, perfect for the cooler days and cozy nights of the season. With adoption fees for dogs 6 months and older reduced to just $26, the promotion makes it easier for families to bring home a new pet and bond over quiet winter evenings, peaceful walks, and shared moments of warmth.

All adoptions include a spay or neuter, a microchip, and age-appropriate vaccinations. New adopters will also receive a complimentary wellness exam with a partner veterinarian and a pet care information packet. The standard adoption process applies, and a licensing fee may be required depending on the adopter’s location.

Pasadena Humane encourages everyone to take advantage of this special event and visit their website to learn more about available dogs. Adoption hours, location details, and additional information can be found at pasadenahumane.org.
