Pasadena is seeking to find a solution rather than voicing solidarity against a 710 tunnel option.
Pasadena City Council will be soon considering forming a community-based task force to explore modifications to Metro’s light-rail option that include an underground Gold Line tunnel that would run under Glenarm Street and California Boulevard, eliminating the gridlock occurring when light-rail trains cross traffic, and a light-rail system upgrade that would connect East L.A. and Cal State Los Angeles with Pasadena’s Fillmore Gold Line station.
Pasadena Councilman Terry Tornek floated the task force idea to fellow council members in late May.
La Cañada Mayor Pro Tem Don Voss thinks the new plan is a “very, very interesting alternative.”
A “5 Cities Alliance” was formed in December of La Cañada, Pasadena, Glendale, South Pasadena and Sierra Madre to respond to the findings of Metro’s EIR.
Pasadena Mayor Bill Bogaard thinks if Pasadena residents were united in support of the light-rail alternative, the Alliance could potentially become a unified force.
