To help prevent fires and keep the community safe, Pasadena Fire Department officials recommend the following precautions.

“The heat is on…. whether you are attending the Just Like Heaven Music Festival at The Rose Bowl Stadium or celebrating mom with outdoor activities, stay hydrated with electrolytes and avoid drinks like alcohol and caffeine that cause dehydration, wear loose fitting/breathable clothing, hats and sunscreen and seek medical attention right away if you experience any heat related symptoms,” said Pasadena Fire Chief, Chad Augustin.
- Trim the Area Around Your Home
Remove dry brush, dead trees, and anything flammable within 100 feet of your home and 10 feet of any roadway. Ornamental plants and cultivated ground cover are exempt. - Keep Roofs and Gutters Clean
Clear gutters of leaves and debris. - Use Fire-Resistant Landscaping
Choose plants that are less likely to catch fire and keep lawns watered. - Dispose of Cigarettes and Charcoal Properly
Fully extinguish before disposal. - Check for Fire Hazards
Remove overhanging branches and ensure a 5-foot vertical clearance between roofs and tree limbs. Keep branches at least 10 feet away from chimneys or stovepipes.
City departments are coordinating to share safety alerts, weather updates, and tips via social media and the city website.
