As the city of Pasadena prepares to observe Labor Day, residents and businesses are reminded of temporary closures and service adjustments for Monday, Sept. 1, 2025.

      By News Desk

In honor of the holiday, Pasadena City Hall, along with various city services, will be closed. This includes the City Service Center, Municipal Services Payment Center, and the Permit Center, which will all resume regular hours on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

      Emergency Services Remain Operational

Pasadena’s Police and Fire Departments will continue to provide full emergency coverage, including patrols, jail services, and paramedic assistance. In the event of a life-threatening emergency, residents should dial 9-1-1 immediately. For non-emergency concerns, residents can reach the Pasadena Police Department at (626) 744-4241.

      Trash and Recycling Service Adjustments

Trash and recycling collections will be delayed by one day for the week. Monday’s pickups will occur on Tuesday, and the remainder of the week’s pickups will follow the same one-day delay:

      • Tuesday’s pickup on Wednesday
      • Wednesday’s pickup on Thursday
      • Thursday’s pickup on Friday
      • Friday’s pickup on Saturday

Additionally, bulky item pickups will not occur on Saturday or Monday.

      Pasadena Water and Power

While the PWP Customer Call Center will be closed, residents experiencing power or water emergencies should call Pasadena Water and Power at (626) 744-4673 for power issues or (626) 744-4138 for water-related emergencies. Customers can also manage their accounts and make payments online at PWPweb.com.

      Parking and Enforcement

The City’s Parking Office will be closed on Labor Day, and parking meters will not require payment on the holiday. However, violations such as overnight parking, red curb parking, and blocking fire hydrants will continue to be enforced. Regular enforcement resumes on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

      Transit and Libraries

Pasadena Transit’s Route 33 will operate on a Sunday schedule, but all other routes and Dial-A-Ride services will not be available on Labor Day. Normal transit schedules will resume on Tuesday.
All Pasadena Public Libraries will be closed on Sunday, Aug. 31 and Monday, Sept. 1, and will reopen with regular hours on Tuesday.

      Recreation and Parks

While all recreation and community centers will be closed, Pasadena’s parks will remain open for public enjoyment. Visitors can still enjoy picnics, play, and outdoor activities, but no reservations will be accepted for park sites on Labor Day.
