The free event includes food trucks, kid-friendly activities, and a slate of musical guests headlined by three-time Grammy-winning salsa/funk/hip-hop band OZOMATLI, including vocalist and PCC alumnus Raul Pacheco.
“This is a celebration that’s 100 years in the making,” said PCC Superintendent/President José A. Gómez, Ph.D. “So many people across our region have fond memories of coming to Pasadena City College to learn, grow, and build their community. As we celebrate our Centennial during the 2024-25 academic year, we invite everyone who has a connection to PCC – or wants to learn more – to join us for the biggest birthday party they’ll ever see.”
Guests will be able to share their PCC memories with groups of student video producers, who will be circulating at the event to collect oral histories of local residents’ experiences with the college. These video pieces will be curated and showcased at a future Centennial Celebration event.
The centerpiece of the day will be a rendition of “Happy Birthday” led by PCC leaders and the Lancer Marching Band, followed by free cupcakes from Dot’s Cupcakes of Pasadena. Food trucks from Kogi BBQ, Fat Boys, Dina’s Dumplings, and La Michoacana will also be on site.
Other attractions include kid-friendly backyard games – including a custom-built piñata – cultural and musical performances, and demonstrations and information from PCC academic departments and offices.
