The Rose Bowl has announced that the 97th annual July 4th fireworks spectacular, known as Americafest, will not occur this year.

      By Scott Phelps

Pasadena’s Fourth of July Fireworks at the Rose Bowl is being replaced, this year, by the opening match between the Major League Soccer LA Galaxy and LAFC teams.

Known as El Tráfico, the soccer match was originally scheduled for February 25th, but was postponed due to bad weather.  The results are pretty evenly split in the history of the series, with the Galaxy holding a small advantage with 7 wins vs. LAFC’s 5 wins, and 5 draws, although the Galaxy has not been defeated at home in the series, with 7 wins and 2 draws.

The soccer match between LA Galaxy and LAFC is scheduled to take place at 7:30 pm on July 4th at the Rose Bowl. The Americafest fireworks event was losing money in recent years. The soccer match is expected to bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars to the cash-strapped stadium.

Awesome‼️Fireworks are so last century. Drone shows are a much better alternative.

I agree with you Susan. Pasadena should consider switching to a drone show.

“The Americafest fireworks event was losing money in recent years. The soccer match is expected to bring in hundreds of thousands of dollars to the cash-strapped stadium.”. Just like the old phrase: “The buck stops here…”.
