Music, Movies, and Shakespeare Light Up South Pasadena’s Summer Series

The City of South Pasadena announced the return of its popular summer event series at Garfield Park, offering a vibrant lineup of free, family-friendly entertainment under the stars.

With live concerts, outdoor movies, and Shakespearean theater, the series promises something for everyone throughout the summer season.

All events will be held at Garfield Park, located at 1000 Park Avenue in South Pasadena. Residents and visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnic baskets—or enjoy a bite from a variety of onsite food vendors.

Concerts in the Park

The summer tunes kick off with the Concerts in the Park series, running from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on select Sundays:

June 29: Latin Soul Band (Food: La Oveja, Lilus Boba)
July 27: ACME Time Machine (Food: The Standard Burger, Tikiz Shaved Ice)
August 3: Soul3Sixty (Food: Andreas Catering, Rio Soft Serve)
August 17: Live from Earth – Pat Benatar & Beyond (Food: Lilus Boba, The Taco Cartel)

These lively concerts offer an eclectic mix of genres, making for perfect summer evenings filled with music, dancing, and community spirit.

Movies in the Park

Families can enjoy movie nights under the stars as part of the Movies in the Park series, with screenings beginning at sunset:

June 13: The Goofy Movie (Food: Tikiz Shaved Ice, The Taco Cartel)
July 11: A Minecraft Movie (Food: Lilus Boba, Andreas Catering)
August 8: The Wild Robot (Food: Tikiz Shaved Ice, La Oveja)

Bring your favorite movie snacks or try out the featured food vendors for a complete outdoor cinema experience.

Shakespeare in the Park

In partnership with Shakespeare by the Sea, two classic performances will grace the stage at Garfield Park:

July 19: Julius Caesar
July 20: As You Like It

Both performances start at 7:00 pm, inviting audiences to enjoy timeless tales of drama and comedy in a charming open-air setting.
