On December 30, 2022, at 8:02 am, fire units from Alhambra and neighboring agencies were dispatched to the 300 block of North Electric Avenue to a two-story, multi-family residence with reports of people trapped.
By News Desk
Initial crews arrived to find smoke showing from the structure and multiple people hanging from the second-story bathroom window. They went to an immediate rescue mode. The Fire Departments resources rescued seven people from both the second story and first story of this occupancy.
Eight people were injured, including five children and two adults living in the involved building, and one good Samaritan neighbor. All patients were immediately transferred to local hospitals.
The cause is currently under investigation. The Alhambra Fire Department would like to increase awareness, this holiday season, about the importance of fire safety. Check to make sure smoke detectors are in working order, close bedroom doors at night when you go to bed. “Christmas tree safety can help prevent tragedies like the one today. Please take the time to keep yourself and your families safe this holiday season.”
