The new service is now available during regular park hours at Alhambra Park, Almansor Park, Emery Park, Granada Park, Story Park, and the Joslyn Center. The initiative is part of the City Council’s Strategic Plan to improve local infrastructure and address gaps in digital access.
City officials say the project was made possible through funding from the 2023 State Budget Act, along with support from the Office of Assemblymember Mike Fong.
Mayor Jeff Maloney emphasized the importance of reliable internet access in daily life, noting that the service will benefit a wide range of residents. From families registering for recreation programs to seniors arranging transportation to medical appointments and students completing schoolwork, the expanded Wi-Fi access is intended to remove barriers to getting online.
City leaders also expressed appreciation for the partnership with Assemblymember Fong, highlighting the effort as part of a broader push to build a more connected and accessible Alhambra community.
