More Praise for Pasadena’s Century Bookshop

Century Books is an independent used bookstore located in the the beautiful Green Street Village, a historic area of Pasadena. They offer a hand-picked eclectic selection of both fiction and non-fiction books.

They are “at it again” by being recognized as one great little bookshop. Earlier this year Real Simple Magazine & Yelp came together to select the best bookstores in each of the United States.

You already knew it was great if you read our previous article on ColoradoBoulevard.net back in 2015. And, the year before that, you could check the Los Angeles Times coverage for Pasadena’s best little old bookshop.

So, what happened this year with Real Simple/Yelp regarding Century Books?

The “executive summary” is this: Century Books was honored earlier this year as the # 1 bookstore in California!

Those who know and visit Century Books are likely both surprised, and, not surprised!  A used bookshop that’s relatively small, but with a high quality, inventory of books, where the owners run the place, in addition to non-book events, such as Caltech speakers and music!

The place feels comfortable, welcoming and right. And, one can understand how some believe this may be the best little bookshop in the whole, big state of eccentric California!

And what do Judith & Steve Marosvolgyi – the great owners of Century Books – think about this latest recognition?

      Co-owner Steve says:

We’re extremely honored by the choice of our bookshop. We’ll try to live up to the expectations of our customers when they visit.  We place a great emphasis on customer service. We carefully curate our book inventory to provide excellent book choices to our many bibliophiles.

We hope we can add to the wonderful cultural life of the Pasadena community through our art, music, and lectures, in addition to our books.

      Judith added:

We are surprised, but honored of course, by the Real Simple & Yelp recognition!  We are very grateful to all our wonderful customers, who have been supporting us throughout the years. Thank you.

Now,  you don’t have a real understanding of what’s been said here if you haven’t experienced Century Books in Pasadena.  The holiday shopping is in full swing and if you like to shop locally, it’s as good a time as any to check out the place yourself and work on your Christmas or other gift list.

Century Books is a perfect combination of books, music, art, community…and love. Step inside and you’re immediately made to feel welcome in this wonderful, warm environment. Nice choice of photo up top; it captures the feel of the shop very well!
