On the evening of Wednesday, December 14, 2022, Andy and his wonderful wife Liz hosted a celebration at the Pasadena Civic Gold Room for a cadre of committed citizens who have raised their hands to serve and lead in the City and in District 7.
In turn, his friends, colleagues, neighbors, civic leaders, and local to national elected officials turned out to celebrate the honest, sincere, hard-working Andy Wilson. Wilson served on the City Council from 2015-2022.
To name just a few, guests included: Mayor Victor Gordo, former mayors Bill Bogaard and Terry Tornek, past and present Councilpersons Margaret McAustin, Gene Masuda, Jason Lyon (Wilson’s successor), City Attorney Michelle Bagneris, City Clerk Mark Jomsky, City Manager Miguel Márquez, field representatives from other City Districts, Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, Assemblyman Chris Holden, and Congresswoman Judy Chu representative Enrique Robles.
Wilson recognized his wife Liz for the sacrifice, hard work, and wisdom she contributed to his work and family. She received the loudest and longest applause.
Wilson had this message for the group: “Our society only functions when capable and ethical people commit to service. We need elected officials, commissioners, professional staff, not-for-profit leaders, board members and so many others to fill important leadership roles and address critical community needs. While it’s certainly a privilege to serve, it also can be a burden – not just in terms of time – but also with the negative political discourse that is all too common in today’s polarized and charged environment. So this evening’s celebration is dedicated to all who commit their time and energy to improving our community.”
