Alexandria Nicole Carbajal Velasco is named the Marshall Fundamental Class of 2021 Valedictorian. Ava Bronkar and Gyda Nawarungruang are named Salutatorians.

      By Felita Kealing

Alex Velasco has been a Marshall Eagle since 6th grade. She plans on attending UCLA in the fall majoring in Anthropology.

Alex has been involved in the Marshall orchestra program since middle school and was auditioned into the Performance Orchestra at the start of high school. She participated in Christian Club, Spanish National Honors Society, Model United Nations, Mock Trial, and National Honors Society. She expanded her leadership experience in 11th grade, when she served as treasurer for Christian Club and secretary in Mock Trial, and again this year when she served as president for Christian Club and vice president in Model UN and Mock Trial. Alex also participated in the Marshall Fundamental Swim Team (2019-2020).

Earlier this year, the Sierra Madre Women’s Club awarded Alex with their 2021 scholarship for her excellent academic achievement and leadership.

Alex is recognized by the College Board as a National AP Scholar and an AP Scholar with Distinction. In addition, she is an AP Capstone Candidate for Diploma, for her research on Attitudes Towards Latin-Accented vs American English.

      Proud of Your Valedictorian?
      > We ask high schools across the area to send a photo of their valedictorian and a little bit about themselves to celebrate their achievement as this senior year comes to a close.
