“Measures G and J, which were approved by the voters, represent remarkable strides towards greater representation and accountability in the County,” Solis said. “We must correct this error to ensure the will of the voters is upheld.”
Measure J, which directed public investments toward vulnerable communities, was inadvertently repealed due to the passage of Measure G, a voter-approved governance reform aimed at expanding representation and oversight in County government.
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is currently reviewing final reports that outline potential remedies. A public discussion on the matter is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2nd during the Board of Supervisors meeting.
Solis reaffirmed her commitment to prioritizing investments that support the County’s most vulnerable populations. She also praised Measure G’s contributions to improving governance, noting its provisions for expanded representation, including the potential election of the first Asian Pacific Islander Supervisor and increased Latino representation, along with the creation of a new independent Ethics Commission and enhanced budget oversight.
“We have a responsibility to honor the will of the voters and take the necessary steps to fully realize that vision,” Solis stated.
