      A Day of Going Solo (Photo – Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival)

      Join the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival for a Virtual Day of Workshops and Panels Tailored to Empower Solo Performers.

      The Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival invites all solo performers, from beginners to seasoned storytellers, to attend a virtual day of workshops designed to empower and enhance their careers. These informative sessions will provide valuable guidance and inspiration to those in the solo performance world.

      Led by industry professionals, these workshops will focus on honing skills and sharing expertise in solo performance creation, direction, and execution.

      Panels and Workshops

      • 10:30 am – 12:00 pm: “The Art of Creating the One Person Show” – Jessica Lynn Johnson
        Jessica Lynn Johnson will guide participants through the process of creating their own one-person play using meditation, writing prompts, and solo performance techniques.
      • 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm: “Release and Let Go” – Juliette Jeffers
        n this workshop, Juliette Jeffers will share the step-by-step process behind the creation of her five solo shows, helping participants see how an idea can evolve into a complete work of art.
      • 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm: “Uncover the Extraordinary Story of YOU” – Terrie Silverman
        Participants will engage in creative exercises designed to release their inner critic, find their authentic voice, and discover what makes their story unique and extraordinary.

      Admission to this event is free, though donations are gratefully accepted. To reserve your spot for these online workshops, register here. A Zoom link will be provided after registration. This free event is made possible in part by a grant from the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.

      About the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival

      Founded in 1993 by Adilah Barnes and Miriam Reed, the Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival is the longest-running annual solo festival in Los Angeles, celebrating the powerful voices of women performers. A critically acclaimed international festival, LAWTF has presented over 700 extraordinary solo artists from around the world. These performers, representing diverse disciplines such as theater, dance, storytelling, performance art, spoken word, mime, music, and song, reflect the multicultural richness of the global arts community.
