As part of their 75th Anniversary celebration, Laemmle folks scheduled a special benefit screening of Gabriel Axel’s classic, Academy Award winning film, BABETTE’S FEAST on Wednesday, December 18 at the Playhouse 7 Theater in Pasadena.
This screening was a benefit for the Union Station Homeless Services (USHS) in Pasadena with funds raised from the screening earmarked to support their activities on behalf of the homeless in our community.
The evening started with an introduction from owner Robert Laemmle and his son Greg Laemmle, president of Laemmle Theaters. The Mayor of Pasadena, Bill Bogaard, presented a proclamation to the Laemmles recognizing their business as a premiere art house chain. A short video showcasing the services provided by the Union Station Homeless Services in Pasadena was shown. Following the presentation, a donation of $2,500 was given in the name of Laemmle Theatres Charitable Foundation by Robert, Greg and his wife, to USHS CEO Rabbi Marvin Gross.
A heartwarming presentation proceeded by a wonderful movie made the evening a special one and proved that a unique small business run by the Laemmle family is a perfect fit for Pasadena.
