The Kindness is Free initiative, powered by Boys & Girls Clubs of West San Gabriel Valley & Eastside (BGCWSGV) and supported by the Skylight Foundation announced its participation in the 2025 Rose Parade presented by Honda with the induction of its inaugural 2025 Hall of Fame class.
The Kindness is Free Hall of Fame honors local community leaders who are actively making a difference in youth lives. Honorees will also be featured on the Kindness is Free Rose Parade float, spreading a message of compassion and positivity to millions of viewers worldwide on January 1, 2025. This float will showcase how simple acts of kindness can create a positive ripple effect across communities.
The inaugural Hall of Fame ceremony was held on Nov. 15, 2024, at the historic Tournament House in Pasadena. The event recognized 10 Los Angeles County officials, nonprofit leaders, entertainment executives and others who exemplify kindness in their work and lives and serve as inspiring role models for youth.
Among this year’s 2025 Kindness Hall of Fame inductees include Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, Second District; Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees member David Vela; East Los Angeles College President: Dr. Alberto J. Román; The Miracle Project Founder Elaine Hall; Hot Topic Foundation representative Joe Emory; iHeart Radio and 104.3 MYFM radio host Lisa Foxx; TV personality Michaela Pereira; Senior Vice President of Organizational Development at Boys & Girls Clubs of America Misty Miller; Fox Sports Executive Vice President of Communications Terri Hines; and Dwight Stuart Youth Fund Director Wendy Chang.
The 55-foot-long float will showcase two acts of kindness through vibrant leaves and intricately crafted animals. Atop is a lush tree with two squirrels sharing an acorn, while at the front is a frog who befriends a butterfly. Overhead, a family of birds cheerfully observes, symbolizing how even the smallest acts of kindness can inspire a broader change. Riding on and alongside the float will be changemakers and youth kindness ambassadors across Southern California.
“Our ‘Kindness is Free’ float not only reflects a commitment to creating a kinder world but recognizes the changemakers and youth ambassadors who are at the forefront leading that charge,” said Josué Arias, Chief Kindness Officer of BGCWSGV. “In a time when empathy and compassion are needed more than ever, our ultimate goal is to end bullying and create a culture where respect and kindness are the standard for all.”
