L.A. County Superior Court Judge Joanne O’Donnell nullified a severance agreement deal between Pasadena City College (PCC) and its former president, Dr. Mark W.Rocha.
The retirement deal was nullified because the college’s board of trustees had violated the California’s open meetings laws (the Ralph M. Brown Act,) by holding Rocha’s retirement and severance package discussions behind closed doors.
Judge O’Donnell ordered the college to file papers within 90 days to:
- Detail how the settlement will be undone.
- Or report on a new agreement that will comply with the Brown Act.
The nullified deal was estimated to be close to $40,000.
