Former Councilwoman Jacque Robinson has filed paperwork to run for mayor in the upcoming 2020 election.

      By News Desk

Robinson filed her candidate intention statement on Monday, September 30 at 8:04 am.

In a statement to ColoradoBoulevard.net, Robinson said:

After being asked to run, and speaking to numerous community stakeholders who share mutual concerns about the future of our City with regard to affordable housing, development, our public school system, and employee morale, I have formally opened a committee to explore my candidacy for Mayor of Pasadena 2020. Anyone wishing to contact me may do so at jrb4mayor2020[at]gmail.com.

Jacque Robinson served two terms as member of the Pasadena City Council, District 1, becoming one of the youngest elected officials in the history of the City. Robinson ran in the 2015 mayoral race and lost to Terry Tornek (7,170 votes to 8,549).

Jacque Robinson is a 2006 graduate of Former Senator Barack Obama’s Hopefund – Yes We Can Training Program and a 2005 graduate of the Los Angeles African American Women’s Public Policy Institute.

I’m all for Jacque as mayor as long as she fires the city manager. The city is a hot mess inside and out. The culture of complacency is alive and well.

It think she would be an amazing mayor. She grew up here. She knows the city. She cares about all of Pasadena, not just the places taxes can be wrung out of by development.

Great to see a legitimate, viable alternative to Tornek on the ballot. Here’s hoping more folks like her jump into the race.

‘but why’ is the right question.
