Down Beat Express, under the direction of Paul Emmett, and featuring Jennifer Gates will be performing this Saturday at Farnsworth Park.

A big band/jazz singer since her student days at Pasadena City College, Jennifer Gates is known by her fans as “The Lady of Jazz.” Delivering songs like “Hooray for Love” and “A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square” with class and a touch of sass, this mezzo-soprano’s unique style, reminiscent of Ella Fitzgerald, recalls the bluesy, smooth sounds of early swing.

An evening of blues, original arrangements of classics, and Sinatra awaits us this Saturday, so bring the family, bring a picnic and enjoy the evening.
