As temperatures rise throughout the week, an Extreme Heat Watch has been issued for areas including the San Fernando Valley and other parts of L.A. and Ventura counties. The watch will remain in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Saturday evening, with dangerously high temperatures potentially reaching up to 104°F.

This week’s forecast calls for sustained heat, with highs around 90°F on Monday, rising daily and nearing 100°F by Thursday. Combined with elevated fire weather conditions, this intense heat is expected to continue through the weekend.
Residents are urged to reconsider outdoor activities and review fire evacuation plans, especially in mountain and valley areas. The risk for heat-related illnesses is high, particularly for children, the elderly, and those without air conditioning.
Sunny and Hot Weather Ahead
Temperatures are expected to rise with sunny skies throughout the week, peaking in the 90s to near 100°F.
- Monday: A sunny day with a high around 90°F, accompanied by light southwest winds. Evening temperatures will remain mostly clear, cooling to around 61°F, with winds becoming light and variable.
- Tuesday: More sunshine, with temperatures near 91°F and light winds shifting southwest by afternoon. Expect mostly clear skies at night, with lows around 62°F.
- Wednesday: Temperatures will climb further, reaching near 97°F. Winds will shift to the southwest, blowing 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon. The night will remain mostly clear with lows around 64°F.
- Thursday: The heat continues, with highs reaching near 100°F, followed by clear skies at night and a low of 66°F.
- Friday: Temperatures will mirror Thursday’s, nearing 99°F, cooling to around 65°F at night.
- Saturday: Another hot day with highs around 98°F and mostly clear skies at night, bringing lows of 68°F.
- Sunday: Sunny skies will persist, with a high near 95°F, rounding out the week of warm, dry weather.
Safety Tips for the Extreme Heat
To stay safe during these extreme conditions:
- Drink plenty of fluids
- Stay in air-conditioned spaces
- Avoid direct sun exposure
- Check in on neighbors, especially the elderly or those with young children
- Never leave children or pets in parked vehicles, as temperatures inside can become lethal quickly.
