“Our hearts are with Mayra Jimenez’s family and loved ones, and with all those impacted by this tragic loss,” Brooks said. He noted that Jimenez was considered part of the extended Glendale Fire Department family and that the incident has had a profound effect on the entire organization.
Brooks described the formal charges filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office as “extremely serious and deeply troubling,” adding that any form of violence is “appalling and unacceptable.” He stated that the alleged conduct does not reflect the values of the Glendale Fire Department or the professionalism of its members who serve the community.
According to the statement, the Los Angeles Police Department is the lead investigating agency, while the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is handling the prosecution. Brooks said the City of Glendale and the Glendale Fire Department will continue to fully cooperate with both the investigation and the legal process.
Because the case involves an active investigation and ongoing criminal proceedings, Brooks said the city and the fire department cannot provide additional comment beyond information released through official channels. He directed media inquiries related to the investigation to the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
