Gayle Bluemel Named Music Director at Sierra Madre’s AKT Youth Academy

Sierra Madre Playhouse’s AKT Academy announced that Gayle Bluemel has joined the youth music theater program as the music and vocal instructor.

Upon her retirement as Principal of Sierra Madre School, the school’s historic Beaux-Arts auditorium was renamed in Bluemel’s honor, with the following dedication: “Gayle Bluemel, The Singing Principal, recognized for her outstanding service to Pasadena Unified School District and the transformational role she has played in the lives of countless youth through the Performing Arts in Education.”

Gayle founded the Pasadena Musical Theatre Program (GATE Summer Musical Workshops) and was Music Director on plays as diverse as Oklahoma and Company. She continues to perform with local bands as a singer, songwriter, composer, and arranger.
