A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for parts of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, in effect from Thursday morning through Thursday evening.
By News Desk
The National Weather Service is warning of potential flash flooding and debris flows due to excessive rainfall over burn scar areas.
Risk Areas
The greatest risk for flash flooding is within or near the Eaton, Palisades/Franklin, and Bridge burn scars. Residents in these regions are urged to be especially cautious as heavy rainfall is expected to exacerbate the dangers of flooding and debris flows.
Expected Impacts
Heavy rainfall could trigger life-threatening flooding, especially in areas where wildfires have scorched the land. The compromised terrain increases the likelihood of debris flows, which can cause significant damage to homes and infrastructure.
What You Need to Know
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for flash flooding to develop, and these events can be extremely dangerous. Local emergency services are closely monitoring the situation and will issue further statements as needed.
Precautionary Actions
Residents are advised to stay informed about weather updates and take proactive steps to prepare for potential flooding. Public safety officials recommend following their guidance in the event of an emergency.
