The historic San Gabriel Mission District will be filled with beautiful lantern displays, sponsored by the Taiwan Tourism Administration, for a two-day Lantern Festival.
The free, City- and World Journal-sponsored event features original, amazing lantern displays, live performances, street food, shopping and more.
Saturday, March 21st hours are 10:00 am – 9:00 pm. Sunday, March 22nd hours run 10:00 am -7:00 pm. The event is centered at San Gabriel’s Mission District, 320 S. Mission Drive, with parking available at: San Gabriel High School, the Park & Ride lot at 243 S. Mission Drive, and San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, 438 W. Las Tunas Drive.
The Lantern Festival, celebrated on the 15th day of the first lunar month in Taiwan, China, and various other Asian countries, marks the grand finale of the Lunar New Year. This cultural event symbolizes reunions, fresh beginnings, and hope under the first full moon of the year.
