Celebrate Pasadena’s starring role in film this summer with two showings at Playhouse Village Park.

Playhouse Village continues the summer season with Movies in the Park presented by Playhouse Village Foundation. This year’s theme, “Pasadena on the Big Screen,” highlights iconic films shot in and around the city—featuring local landmarks, historic homes, and charming neighborhoods.

Enjoy free outdoor community movie screenings on select Friday evenings in August at the lawn of Playhouse Village Park, featuring Legally Blonde and The Wedding Singer, both with memorable scenes filmed in Pasadena and nearby. Bring a blanket, enjoy free popcorn, and experience the magic of movies where they were made.

Each showing will have the following schedule:

      • 7:00 pm – Seating on the lawn opens. Arrive early to secure a prime viewing spot with a blanket or lawn chair, and enjoy pre-movie activities like free popcorn, photo ops, and arts & crafts.
      • 8:00 pm – Movie will begin after sunset

      Film Lineup

      • August 15: Legally Blonde (2001, PG-13)
Elle Woods has it all—style, charm, and a bright future. But when her boyfriend dumps her to get “serious” at Harvard Law, she decides to follow him there and prove she’s more than just a pretty face. This witty, feel-good comedy is a celebration of self-confidence, determination, and staying true to yourself.
      • August 22: The Wedding Singer (1998, PG-13)
Robbie, a wedding singer in the 1980s, is left at the altar and meets Julia, a waitress who’s engaged to a wealthy but unkind fiancé. As they grow closer, sparks fly and Robbie must decide whether to risk his heart again. Packed with nostalgic music, heartfelt laughs, and vintage charm, this romantic comedy is a throwback celebration of love and second chances.
