A free half-day STEM event designed for middle school girls will take place on Saturday, April 25, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Mirror Pools at Pasadena City College.
The program, aimed at students in grades 6 through 8, will feature small-group, hands-on activities introducing participants to a wide range of science, technology, engineering, and math fields. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet women working in STEM careers.
Activities scheduled for the event include aerospace, astronomy and telescopes, creative chemistry, DNA exploration, paleontology, automotive technology, and computer science, among others.
Check-in for participants will begin at 8:30 am on Galloway Plaza, located opposite the south entrance to the campus library. Organizers note that activities will begin promptly at 9:00 am, and students are expected to remain for the full duration of the event, ending at noon.
All students will be assigned to groups and accompanied by adult chaperones throughout the morning. Snack bars and water will be provided, and attendees are encouraged to bring refillable water bottles. Masking is strongly encouraged during indoor workshops.
Free parking will be available in Lot 5, accessible via South Bonnie Avenue. A designated drop-off and pick-up area will be located in Lot 7, where volunteers will assist students to the check-in area. Parents are asked to pick up their children promptly at 12:00 pm.
The event is open to all middle school girls at no cost. Reserve a spot at this link.
