The Restoration Concerts Committee of The Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library will present the Tesserae Baroque Ensemble at the first concert of their 30th anniversary season on September 14, 2025 at 4:00 pm.
Soprano Andrea Zomorodian joins a four-part viol consort to explore the sumptuous soundworld of the English Renaissance. Perfect for an intimate library setting, this program invites audiences into “private musick” for the English chamber—from intricate and daring instrumental fantasies to intimate polyphonic consort songs.
The concert will be held in South Pasadena’s Library Community Room. Tickets will be available at the door for $25 or online at this website ($26).
Tesserae is an LA-based period instrument ensemble specializing in historically-informed performances of music from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. Formed in 2010, Tesserae explores some of the most beautiful repertoire of the Renaissance and Baroque, from intimate chamber music to large-scale orchestral works.
Andrea Zomorodian, originally from Seattle, focuses on oratorio, early music, and studio singing. She is lauded for her warm tone, expressivity, and aethereal high notes (“sung with blinding luminosity” – Mark Swed, LA Times).
The concert season runs through May 10, 2026 and features many talented ensembles and musicians. Season tickets are $160 for 8 concerts. Purchasing the season saves concertgoers a total of $40 over ticket prices at the door. For concert details about the season and to purchase tickets, visit this website or email restorationconcerts@gmail.com.
The Restoration Concerts Committee, a committee of the non-profit organization The Friends of the South Pasadena Public Library, has a goal to bring world-class music at an affordable price to the concertgoers in South Pasadena and surrounding communities. As the name suggests, net proceeds from the concerts provide for restorations, enhancements, and other benefits to the South Pasadena Library and Community Room.
