Local favorites – and three-time Grammy-winning artists – OZOMATLI will headline Saturday’s 100th Community Birthday Party.
Guests will hear mariachi music, taiko and African drumming, and performances from PCC’s Choral Arts and Band ensembles. There will also be ballet folklórico and Armenian dance performances.
The full musical lineup includes:
- OZOMATLI, including PCC alumnus Raul Pacheco, to close out the show
- PCC Choral Arts
- Lilia Dance Studio Armenian cultural performing group
- Dramane Kone African drumming group
- Mariachi Arco Iris de Los Angeles
- Paso de Oro ballet folklorico
- Makoto Taiko, and
- The PCC Lancer Marching Band
Musical guests will play on two stages at the college. The centerpiece of the day will be a rendition of “Happy Birthday” led by the Lancer Marching Band at 1:30 pm, followed by free cupcakes from Dot’s Cupcakes of Pasadena. Food trucks including Kogi BBQ, Fat Boys, Dina’s Dumplings, and La Michoacana will also be on site.
Community leaders are expected to be on site to join the celebration, including U.S. Rep. Judy Chu, Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, California State Senator Anthony Portantino, California Assemblymembers Chris Holden and Mike Fong, local mayors and city councilmembers, and other elected officials.
Other attractions include kid-friendly backyard games – including a custom-built piñata – and demonstrations and information from PCC academic departments and offices.
