Sensational disasters were big attractions for moviegoers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Film historian Galen Wilkes will present a program that will include footage from four famous onscreen disasters: the 1898 Spanish-American War, the 1900 Galveston hurricane, the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, and the 1912 sinking of the Titanic. Wilkes will be joined by Jim Constantian who will discuss a Titanic survivor he knew.
