Edward Alexander Parker III, Founder of EdVenturing, Teacher and Guide with OBA

With over three decades of experience in the outdoor industry as a wilderness instructor, mountaineer, actor, and educator, his life has been shaped by the transformative power of nature. From summiting Mount Rainier and Mount Whitney to patrolling the snowfields of the Sierra Nevada, Ed brings not only technical mastery–rock climbing, winter survival, cold injury care–but also a spirit rooted in legacy, mentorship, and belonging.

As a Level Three Leave No Trace Master Educator, Ed has served as a teacher and guide with Outward Bound Adventures and REI, centering environmental stewardship and access for underrepresented communities. His work with youth and first-time adventurers reflects a deep belief that nature is for everyone–and that each journey into the wilderness is an act of healing, restoration, and reclamation.

Ed is also a Shakespearean performer and poet, and strives to bring the lens of storytelling to every expedition. For him, the Arctic is not just a destination–it is a symbolic crown of the Earth, a place where history, climate, and identity coverage. Ed sees the Full Circle Arctic Expedition as a sacred opportunity to honor Matthew Henson’s legacy, amplify Black excellence in exploration, and carry forward a message of resilience, representation, and reverence for the world.

      Outward Bound Adventures, 501(c)3 Non-Profit

Outward Bound Adventures (OBA) is the oldest non-profit in the nation dedicated to outdoor education for BIPOC youth. OBA is a pioneer of Transformational Experiential Environmental Education (TEEE). Every OBA course is designed to challenge and empower youth with environmental education that changes their perspective about themselves and their surroundings.
