Discover more about Pasadena’s unique church and Hillcrest neighborhood histories as you stroll through them.

Pasadena Heritage returns with its holiday Architectural Legacy Tours on Tuesday, December 30 — a chance for you and your holiday guests to walk off the season’s excesses and peek inside some of the city’s most beautiful buildings.

Both tours clock in between 2 and 2 1/2 hours long, See link below to purchase tickets and for more details.

      • “Historic Churches of Pasadena” walking tour: 12:00 pm,  3:00 pm
      • Explore the Playhouse Village and tour some of the city’s most architecturally significant churches during the Historic Churches of Pasadena walking tour. You will visit a variety of historic churches, each with its own unique architectural style and rich history. Experienced docents will lead you on a guided walking tour, filled with a wealth of architectural details, holiday decorations, and the opportunity to make some internal stops to explore select interiors.
      • “Hillcrest Neighborhood” walking tour: 11:00 am,  1:00 pm
      • Discover one of Pasadena’s most beautiful neighborhoods with the Hillcrest neighborhood walking tour, which takes you by many grand homes in a variety of architectural styles. The Oak Knoll subdivision, of which Hillcrest is part, was intended to rival the wealthy neighborhoods of Orange Grove and the “West Side” (San Rafael and Linda Vista), so many of the estate-size lots were intended for custom home development. Showcased on the tour are numerous mansions along with large Craftsman homes such as the Freeman House designed by architects Arthur and Alfred Heineman and the Culbertson House and Blacker House both designed by Charles and Henry Greene.

      > For information and tickets, visit pasadenaheritage.org. (Tickets are non-refundable. Meeting location will be revealed after you buy a ticket).
