Los Angeles County is offering wildfire survivors and property owners a valuable opportunity to rebuild smarter and safer. On Saturday, June 28, from 10:00 am to noon, the Los Angeles County Public Works Department will host a no-cost virtual rebuilding workshop aimed at helping residents design fire-resilient, energy-efficient homes.
The event will introduce the new Resilient Rebuilding Resource Guide, a digital toolkit designed to support property owners and building professionals as they navigate the rebuilding process. The guide includes practical information on fire-resistant materials, solar power integration, EV readiness, and other strategies that improve safety and affordability over time.
During the two-hour session, experts will review how to plan and build code-compliant, fire-wise structures, and how to incorporate these strategies from the early design phase. Attendees will also receive information on rebates, incentives, and financing programs available to support rebuilding efforts.
The Resilient Rebuilding Resource Guide also helps demystify key terms such as Chapter 7A building codes and Fire Hazard Severity Zones. Importantly, it addresses not only new construction but also retrofitting existing homes to improve safety and energy performance.
