Playhouse Village continues the summer season with a new free event series, Movies in the Park presented by Playhouse Village Foundation (PVF) and Pasadena Playhouse.

The outdoor community movie screenings will feature iconic films on select Friday evenings in August at the lawn of Playhouse Village Park. The Movies in the Park film series is free and open to the public.

The critically acclaimed film La La Land (2016, PG-13) will be screened under the stars on Friday, August 11. Immerse yourself in the mesmerizing story of love, dreams, and the pursuit of happiness, all set against the backdrop of the magical world of Hollywood and featuring notable Pasadena landmarks.

On Friday, August 25, the outdoor cinema will feature The Greatest Showman (2017, PG). Inspired by the imagination of P. T. Barnum, this original musical celebrates the birth of show business and tells of a visionary who rose from nothing to create a spectacle that became a worldwide sensation.

Brian Wallace, Playhouse Village Association President/CEO says:

Continuing with our summer of programming, we’re excited to hold the first-ever Movies In The Park series for all the neighborhood to enjoy. Partnering with both recent Tony Award-winning Pasadena Playhouse and the Playhouse Village Foundation allows us to celebrate the arts in a new way, making this film series unique in Pasadena.”

Each showing will begin after sunset, at approximately 8:00 pm. Bring blankets or lawn chairs and a picnic from your favorite local Playhouse Village restaurant to enjoy with family and friends prior to the film.

“The Playhouse Village Foundation is proud to support Movies In The Park to further our goal of activating Playhouse Village Park,” says PVF Board Chair Phil Hawkey. “We’re grateful for the sponsorship by Pasadena Playhouse, who will be able to share their recent success with the community and continue building a vibrant Playhouse Village.”

Movies in the Park is made possible by the generous support of Pasadena Playhouse and Playhouse Village Foundation.
