BoldPas is a one-day “art takeover” of historic Old Pasadena, showcasing selected, site-specific, temporary art installations and local businesses’ artistic storefronts.
The event is designed to highlight Old Pasadena’s unique urban and historic spaces and to encourage visitors to enjoy the space, history, and character of the district.
Visuals
- 10 medium- and large-scale art installations staged in historic urban settings
- Renowned muralist/painter Andrew Hem live painting in Mercantile Place
- Pop-up canvas installation hosted by Flower Pepper Gallery featuring 8 artists
- Two walking tours hosted by Pasadena Walking Tours allowing registered participants to explore installations up close, meet the artists, and learn more about Old Pasadena’s permanent public art
- Creative “Art Stops” at 25+ Old Pasadena businesses, in windows and on storefronts
Talking Points
- Free, grassroots, community event designed to support local artists
- Encourages the use of common, everyday objects in an artistic assembly
- Generates exposure to the independent spirit, unique businesses, and history of Old Pasadena
- Encourages visitors to walk and explore “off Colorado” and discover our nearly 200 independent and local businesses
- Promotes the use of photography and social media to connect and share
Locations
The public will have the opportunity to take one of two walking tours during the event, guided by Pasadena Walking Tours. While strolling the district, tour-goers will learn more about Old Pasadena’s permanent public art while also taking in the installations and chatting with the day’s guest artists.
