Desert Notebooks: A Road Map for the End of Time

In Desert Notebooks: A Road Map for the End of Time, Ben Ehrenreich embarks on a profound journey that grapples with the very essence of human existence and the looming questions of our future on this planet. This captivating hybrid of memoir, travelogue, and philosophical exploration invites readers to ponder the urgent inquiry: “What are we doing here?”

With accolades that include “New York Times Notable Book of 2020,” “Editors’ Choice, The New York Times Book Review,” An Amazon Best Book of the Month in Nonfiction, a New York Public Library’s Best Books of the Year, and a starred review from Kirkus for its “lyrical” and “well-informed” reflections, Ehrenreich’s work resonates deeply within the literary community. It is a clarion call to reconsider our relationship with the earth, each other, and the fabric of time itself.

A National Magazine Award winner, Ehrenreich’s journalism, essays, and criticism have appeared in Harper’s, The New York Times Magazine, The Nation, and many other publications. He has reported from Afghanistan, Haiti, Cambodia, El Salvador, Mexico, and all over the United States. He is the author of two novels, The Suitors and Ether, and two books of non-fiction, The Way to the Spring and Desert Notebooks.

Eat the Mouth that Feeds You

Carribean Fragoza’s fiction debut, Eat the Mouth that Feeds You, is a powerful testament to the experiences of Latinos navigating the complexities of wonder, violence, and the stark realities of Southern California. This remarkable collection of stories won the 2021 Whiting Award and was a finalist for the PEN America Literary Award 2021. “An essential and important new voice in American fiction”—Héctor Tobar, author of The Barbarian Nurseries.

Fragoza is the prose editor of Huizache Magazine. Her fiction and nonfiction have appeared in numerous publications, including BOMB, the Los Angeles Review of Books, the New York Times, and the most recent issue of American Short Fiction.
