Friends of the Los Angeles River and the Arroyo Seco Foundation invite you to participate in the annual Los Angeles River Cleanup!
This annual “work party” will include live music performances, gift giveaways, family activities and refreshments.

Directions
! Bike: There is easy access from the Metro Gold Line (see Transit below). From the LA River Bike Path, continue downstream from Fletcher Drive on the access road. At Egret Park, exit the bikeway and turn left on Riverside Drive. Note: there is earthquake retrofit construction happening on the Figueroa Bridge. Turn right onto San Fernando Rd., just before the Home Depot parking lot. The street is closed for car traffic but is accessible by bike. The site is on your right.
! Transit: Take the Metro Gold Line to the Lincoln Heights/Cypress Park (Ave. 26) Station. Exit the station and turn left to San Fernando Rd. (west, toward the 110 Freeway). Turn left at Figueroa to San Fernando Rd. and then turn left onto San Fernando. The site will be on the right side of the street.
! Car: With the Figueroa Street Bridge under construction, San Fernando Rd. is blocked off to car traffic. There are two ways you can reach the site: Exit the 110 Fwy at Figueroa (this is a left exit where the 5 Fwy and the 110 split for downtown. Turn right at Figueroa and drive over the River. Turn right on Avenue 26 and then right onto Humboldt. Take Humboldt to San Fernando Rd. and turn right. The site is on the left side of the street.
What to wear/bring
Wear work clothes, sturdy shoes, long pants, hat & sun protection. It will be hand if you bring grabber arm tools, waders/rubber boots, if possible.

Bring your own water bottle & bring an old plastic bag or a reusable bucket for trash collection.
The Arroyo Seco Confluence is mostly concrete where the 5 and 110 Freeways intersect. There are red-legged stilts on the concrete and swallows nest under the bridge. Downtown Los Angeles is where it is because of this confluence – ditches or “zanja” were dug from the River to supply water to the Pueblo.
Located under the Pasadena Freeway is the Confluence of the Arroyo Seco and the Los Angeles River. In 1769, the Portola expedition’s Father Juan Crespi described this area as “very well lined with large trees, sycamores, willows, cottonwoods, and very large live oaks.” This concrete-lined site is just downstream from the natural-bottomed Glendale Narrows. You’ll see red-legged stilts in the shallow water and swallows flying overhead – you can find their mud nests under the bridge.
