disabled voters
in cold wheelchairs
canes and walkers
jokes and unexpected
kindnessesexit polls showed
a clear winner at midnight
in the light of day
another stolen election
weeping and gnashing of teeth
Silvia Brandon Pérez was born in La Habana, Cuba and emigrated in 1960. Her poetry, both in English and in Spanish, has been published online and in print, and she also appears in anthologies in both languages. She is a dedicated activist, singer/songwriter who makes her home in the California Bay Area.
