Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors Chair Kathryn Barger is urging residents affected by the Eaton Fire to participate in a virtual housing recovery workshop on Saturday, July 12, from 10:00 am. to noon, designed to help them rebuild their homes.

The online event will highlight alternative housing options—including mobile homes, manufactured homes, and factory-built housing, that can offer quicker, more cost-effective, and code-compliant paths to recovery. “These alternative housing types offer residents a path to return home sooner while meeting modern safety and code requirements,” said Supervisor Barger. “This is an essential opportunity for Eaton Fire survivors to learn about innovative and practical solutions for rebuilding.”
The workshop will include a comprehensive presentation tailored to homeowners, designers, and building professionals, detailing the definitions, advantages, and permitting processes for each housing option.
Experts from the California Department of Housing and Community Development, Los Angeles County Public Works, and the County’s Department of Regional Planning will lead the session. A live Q&A will follow the presentation, giving attendees the chance to ask direct questions and receive guidance from both State and County housing officials.
To ensure accessibility, the workshop will feature live Spanish audio interpretation. Additionally, recordings and presentation materials in both English and Spanish will be made available online within a week of the event at recovery.lacounty.gov/rebuilding/workshops.
Advance registration is required and can be completed at this link.
