On June 23, 2025, the junior girls’ East Alhambra team, the Alleycats, emerged as the All-Star District 18 Champions. This victory paves the way for them to compete in the Regional State Championship on July 7-8, 2025, at Coleman Field in Hesperia Community Park.

The Alleycat Little League team, based at Almansor Park, consists of girls aged 13-15 who attend various local schools, including All Souls World Language Catholic School, Northrup Middle School, Alhambra High School, and Mark Keppel High School. As an All-Star team, the top players are selected from all the division teams. This year, 11 players from the Alleycats and one from the Toxic team were chosen.
In their final game, the Alleycats triumphed with a 19-12 victory over Alhambra American, demonstrating both individual skill and teamwork. Coached by the Macias family of Alhambra, the team is known for its close-knit dynamic. Joleen Macias, the team manager, along with coaches Francine Macias and Danny Macias Sr., guide the team’s strategy and skill development while fostering a sense of unity among the players.
The championship achievement is especially remarkable considering the challenges the girls face. They practice in randomly available park spaces since the boys’ Little League teams use the limited baseball diamonds. “We are so proud of our girls. They practice several times a week on top of their academic and school sport commitments. The coaches are incredibly supportive, guiding the team’s skills and strategy, and the girls truly work together to win games,” says team mom Jackie Alvarez.
